Options for Design, Size and Finish of our Oak and Pine Fire Surrounds

Our wooden fire surrounds are all individually made and so SIZE CHANGES do not add much to the cost. Apart from variations in the overall size, customers often ask for a thicker (or thinner) mantel shelf, slimmer pillars, or a different moulding around the opening.

The CARVED MOTIFS on our oak and pine fire surrounds can be absolutely anything though strong designs work better than fussy ones. We can design something suitable or work from an existing drawing.

The other main variable is the FINISH and each style is available in the following:-
sanded-for-painting
natural waxed finish
wax finish with added stains
After many years experience we have developed a mellow finish using a chemical that reacts to light (as opposed to a stain, which can give an uneven appearance) often mixed with a small amount of lime, which counteracts the yellowing that time can bring to wood.
