quote for a sign please include
as many of the following details as
possible:
Shape of sign ? - rectangular,
oval, arch topped or unusual in some way ?
If rectangular -
straight edged or wavy ?
With a motif ? (can be anything!)
- or without ?
Lettering all capitals or just first letters
?
If more than one word, arranged on one line or more?
Size
?(approx or exact) - you might like to specify an overall width
or depth of the sign, or the height of a capital letter.
In general I do not undertake very small lettering - if you
want all capitals I would suggest 1.5"(4cm) high letters for cottages etc, and
2"(5cm) high or larger if the sign has to be seen from a distance or the
property is larger.(I can of course carve as large as you like). If only the
first letters are capitalised then perhaps they should be a little larger than
just described.
Font similar to most on
my website (traditional Roman)? like another example on my website ? - or a
special one ?
Natural oak finish ?(will turn grey in the weather but not rot)
or varnished ? (will stay brown & glossy but need more coats
sometime).
Colour of lettering ? (white is always
the clearest in poor lighting, especially with varnished signs)
Signs can, of
course, be unpainted - just carved.
